Welcome South-Central Volunteers!
Thank you for responding to the need to reach boys and girls with the Gospel and to make the name of Jesus Christ known to the little ones!
In today’s society, child abuse and child accusations are occurring daily. Therefore, it is important that Child Evangelism Fellowship take steps to protect the children to whom we minister and to protect our workers from false accusations.
In accordance with the Child Protection Policy of Child Evangelism Fellowship Inc., all volunteers and paid workers are required to undergo a national criminal background check and complete a volunteer application process.
Please follow the steps under your corresponding volunteer category below.
*CEF of South-Central Indiana provides background checks at no charge to volunteers. However, there is a cost to CEF for the screening. If you are able, would you consider a donation of $5 or more to help pay for screenings? Please do not feel obligated–we are pleased to provide this service to ensure the safety of the children in our care and for the protection of our workers. Good News Club Volunteers
All volunteers (new or returning) are to complete steps 1-3 each year of serving with CEF.
1. Watch our 12-minute Protecting Today’s Child presentation or listen at 1 (866) 878-4182
2. Read our Child Protection Policy (PDF download).
3. Read and sign electronically our Statement of Faith and Workers Compliance Form
Steps 4 and 5 are for new volunteers, 5 year renewal, or gap of 12 months of serving or more.
4. Complete our Online Background Screening Form (only complete once every 5 years)
- Special Instructions for volunteers ages 12-17
- Four references: Pastor or church leader, employer or past employer, non-relative, other
- For each reference, please include at least a phone number or email address along with the state the person lives in.
5. You will be contacted by the local director or the team leader for a three-question interview and ID confirmation.

Online Training
Step 1 – Create your free account on Children’s Ministries Institute or click “Sign In” if you already have an account.
Step 2 – Once you are logged into your CMI account, follow this link to complete your Wordless Book Training.
Step 3 – While you are logged in, you will also need to complete this GNC Quick Start Training. (This training consists of 10 lessons.)
How to sign up for these trainings & navigate on CMI.
- Click on the blue oval that says “Take This Course”.
- You will then enter the key code “gnctraining”.
- Once you have clicked “Take this Course” on any of the courses, they will appear under “Courses” and then “My Courses” any time you log back into your CMI Online Account.
- Note: You must be logged in for the links above to take you directly to the Wordless Book Training & GNC Quick Start Training!
These trainings are required to volunteer with Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF). For reference material while completing the course, “The Wordless Book Training,” please view and/or print the following PDF titled “How to Lead a Child to Christ The Wordless Book Student Notes.”
Tips:
- “The Wordless Book Training” will show places/verses to mark in your Bible. Marking them with tabs and/or ribbons make them easily accessible.
- You can put the wordless book bookmarks in your Bible for reference. The bookmarks can be found here.
- Remember, YOU are a light and do not feel shy or nervous when sharing the Gospel! God will help you through!
